A charming and spacious four bedroom terraced house, perched on the border of Walthamstow with Leyton, and thus ideally placed for all that both these amazing postcodes have to offer.
This delightful home offers over 1200 feet of family friendly space, spread over three floors. It’s laid out very much with the family in mind, with large sociable spaces on the ground floor, and plenty of sleeping accommodation above. To the front sit the two reception rooms. Connected via double doors, they are thus incredibly practical, meaning they be used separately or as one, depending on your needs. To the rear is the cavernous kitchen diner. Stretching to over 30 feet in length, there is ample room here to book cook and entertain. The kitchen section has swathes of modern fitted units and work surfaces, whilst engineered wood flooring connects the two areas, and leads back towards the sliding doors at the far end.
The first floor comprises three double bedrooms (the larger being full width across the front of the property) and a swish family bathroom, complete with rainfall shower over the tub. The loft extension on the second floor houses the principle bedroom suite. This is an expansive space, with dual aspect bedroom with dressing area, and an en suite shower room to the rear.
Outside there is a low maintenance, courtyard style garden, with raised borders – ideal for al fresco dining.
Living here... - Perched on the southern edge of Walthamstow Village, this is a house perfectly positioned to enjoy all that the Village has to offer. Start by wandering up Grove Road and grabbing a coffee at Huck’s – it’s the perfect spot to muse over what to do with your day (or more accurately calculate how you are going to fit everything in). Perhaps lunch at The Castle or The Queens? Or you could pop into Eat 17 or Orford Road Saloon to book a table for dinner. Alternatively follow the sound of the bells at St Mary’s and visit the Ravenswood, where the neon is always glowing at God’s Own Junkyard and the beers are permanently chilled at two of Walthamstow’s best craft breweries. (Ours is a Queen of Diamonds please). If you need to get further afield then Walthamstow Central station is just a short walk away, but who wants to think about work when there is so much still to cram into the weekend. We haven’t even got around to all that E10 has to offer if you head in the opposite direction!
Great house, great location – enough said…
In This Area - By Walthamstow Diary - Bakers Arms is named after the pub of the same name which stood on the junction of Lea Bridge Road and Hoe Street. The building survives but the pub has long since closed. Happily, the Bakers Alms Houses, which the pub was named after, still survive. The alms houses can be found just around the corner on Lea Bridge Road. Built by the Master Bakers Benevolent institution in 1857, they are a grand architectural reminder of times past. On the other side of Lea Bridge Road you’ll find the King William the IVth, which is now a thriving local gastro pub. Further up Hoe Street is the incredible Hornbeam Café, a great spot to enjoy fresh, locally produced food. The Hornbeam also host live music and film nights. This end of Hoe Street links Walthamstow to Leyton and has good transport links (bus to Clapton in 10 minutes, Hackney in 15 minutes, Walthamstow Central station within easy walking distance). It’s also the shortest of short strolls from what is now the dining and socialising epicentre of Walthamstow, the Village.
