A delightful two bedroom, ground floor apartment, nestling on the edge of the Village, and a stone’s throw from Walthamstow Central station. It is decorated in cool, neutral tones throughout, highlighting the abundance of natural light that streams into every room.
To the front is a wonderful, bay windowed lounge – the ideal spot to hunker down against the worst that winter can throw at you. Directly behind, off the hallway, sits the first of the two double bedrooms, which also offers access to the garden via French doors. There then follows the modern, fitted kitchen (again offering access to the garden) and an equally stylish, three piece family bathroom. Finally comes the second bedroom, which is currently configured as a dining room, and overlooks the garden.
That shared rear garden has a generous patio area, so when Summer returns you have the perfect spot to relax with a glass of something cold after a long day.
A great flat in a great location – enough said...
Living here... - When you’re perched just off Orford Road, as this property is, you are guaranteed to have literally everything that the Village in particular (and E17 in general) has to offer. Whether it's a cold beer on your way home from work (The Queen's Arms, The Village and The Castle are moments from your door), dinner of a Saturday evening or a Sunday morning brunch (far too many options to fit in here!) or simply relaxing with a latte and watching the world go by, there is plenty to choose from. And that's even before we mention the delights of the Ravenswood, the sights and sounds of the market and Hoe Street, and the green open spaces of Epping Forest.
Walthamstow Central Station is literally a hop skip and a jump away and offers great transport links into Central London via the Victoria Line and London Overground.
In This Area - By Walthamstow Diary - Sitting opposite a 15th century timber-framed house, listening to the sound of bells ring in the nearby 12th century church, whilst the breeze gently blows through the trees behind you. Sounds idyllic doesn't it? Sounds like a scene from the middle of the countryside, but it isn't. This is the scene you will find when sat on the bench on Church Lane in Walthamstow. The timber-framed building in front of you is the Ancient House, the church bells belong to St Mary's, and all around you is Walthamstow Village. Leave the bench behind, walk forwards, and you'll soon find yourself on Orford Road. Take the weight off your feet and relax with a glass of wine at In Vino Veritas. Wander a bit further down the road and you'll find Froth & Rind, our very own (and very amazing) cheese and beer shop. Pop in to the tapas bar or deli, have a meal and pint of pale in The Queens Arms, or chill in the garden of The Village pub. Quiet roads, beautiful cottages, pubs, restaurants, parks for the kids, and more character than you can shake a stick at. This is an urban Village with something for everyone.
In The Owners Words... - Initially I fell in love with this flat for the original features and high ceilings, which I've kept in place whilst updating the kitchen and bathroom, and over the years I've found there's a sunny spot in each room at different times of the day. For me using the second bedroom for dining works well, but it's also nice and cosy for guests. When I first moved to Walthamstow I thought the location couldn't be better, halfway between the Village and the station and in the intervening years the surroundings have just got better ... tempting me to make less use of those quick links into central London.
