This three bedroom terraced house has all the ingredients to be turned into a fabulous family home. On the ground floor there are two reception rooms (which we think could easily be opened up into one, double aspect, open plan space), modern galley style kitchen, family bathroom and lean to. Upstairs there are three bedrooms, whilst to the rear of the property is a private garden, complete with covered decking – perfect for al fresco entertaining. Like we said at the start, the raw ingredients are all here...
Guide Price: £500,000-£525,000.
Living here... - When we think of the area around Downsfield Road, we immediately think of peace and quiet. But don’t think the location isn’t also great when you want to experience the bright lights and buzz that E17 (and beyond) has to offer – it’s fantastic for that too. Having the amenities of St James Street, the High Street and Coppermill Lane literally on your doorstep is a real plus, with a number of independent cafes, pubs and restaurants to enjoy. So whether it's a cold beer on your way home from work (check out The Chequers – terrible pun, sorry!), dinner of a Saturday evening, or just a Sunday stroll with both junior and canine members of the clan across the marshes to Springfield Marina, Clapton and beyond, there is a wealth of things to see, do and try. The perfect base from which to explore the sights and delights of this amazing part of East London, but with the added bonus of tranquillity when required – the best of both worlds.
In This Area - By Walthamstow Diary - If you find yourself wandering around St James Street, look to the walls, they have a story to tell you. Don't worry, I've not taken a funny turn, I'm referring to the ghost signs that litter this part of Walthamstow. Faded and flaking though they are, these painted signs give us a glimpse in to the past. These days, there's a lot happening on this little street. You can get a bottle of locally brewed Wildcard ale from Cafe 56, who also sell one of the best breakfasts I've had. Their cocktail nights on Friday evenings are also worth a visit. The station will get you to Liverpool Street in 14 minutes, and you can grab a tea or coffee from Tom at the Perky Blenders coffee van to drink on the way. If you like Indian food or flock wallpaper, the Bengal curry house is a must. Get some gozleme from Yildirim Bakery, then walk it off with a trot around St James Park. Oh, and if you have a problem with your bike, don't worry, Walthamstow Cycles are just around the corner.
