Personally, we’re glad Thom Yorke gets around to playing his as well as admire it, but we’re pretty certain the musician in this family knows exactly where the Radiohead front man is coming from. How else to explain the fabulous display on the walls of what we would call the music room (or bedroom 2 if you want to be pedantic)? And yet, as important as music clearly is to the owners, it is but one small part of what is a wonderfully warm and inviting family home. Take the richly decorated through lounge, where the light from the shuttered bay window and the rear door reflects of the engineered wood flooring, creating both a sense of space and warmth at the same time. The metro tiled fitted kitchen to the rear is again beautifully presented, and spacious enough to accommodate a table – ideal for when you need to cook and keep an eye on the kids at the same time. Upstairs, the three bedrooms are all well proportioned and stylish (particularly the exquisite main bedroom), whilst the internal rooms are completed by the bathroom and separate WC. Moving outside, there is a private rear garden accessed either from the lounge or kitchen, with a patio area offering the ideal spot for al fresco entertaining - but perhaps best wait for summer to return first! Living here... - At the risk of repeating ourselves, we adore this part of Walthamstow. Seriously, what’s not to like? As well as an amazing sense of community, Wood Street is rapidly becoming another must visit destination in E17. There are literally new businesses and buildings seemingly popping up daily. Grab some borek to go from Teras (yum!), or perhaps head down to Marilucia for a fantastic thin crust pizza (we love the Contadina). If it’s evening entertainment you want, The Duke offers fabulous cocktails and burgers well into the early hours, or wander up Shernhall Street to the Ravenswood, where your mind will be blown by the dazzling neon at God’s Own Junkyard. If you feel the need for exercise after all that, Walthamstow Cricket Tennis and Squash Club is just around the corner on Greenway Avenue, whilst across the border in E11 Hollow Ponds offers the perfect spot for walking the dog (or for the dog to walk you). All this, and just a short train journey from the City via the handily located Wood Street station. Like we said, what’s not to like…?
